FAQ
1. Choosing Your Light
Aquarium Lighting
1. Which TWINSTAR light is right for my aquarium?
Choose based on aquarium size, required light level, plant type, and how you plan to manage the aquarium.
S LINE is designed for high-demand planted aquariums that require very high light output and PPFD. It is recommended for demanding plants, dense layouts, medium to large aquariums, and users considering pendant installation.
E LINE is ideal for customers looking for strong performance at a practical price. It is especially well suited to small and medium planted aquariums and provides ample, well-balanced light for a wide range of aquatic plants.
B+ LINE is suitable for easy-to-grow plants, lower-light planted aquariums, tropical fish, and general ornamental fish setups. It provides more than enough performance for these applications.
2. What is the difference between S LINE, E LINE, and B+ LINE?
All three lines use the same TWINSTAR Six-Color Full Spectrum. The main differences are light output, body dimensions, and controller configuration.
S LINE is the performance line, offering the highest light output and PPFD.
E LINE provides a strong balance of performance and value, particularly for small and medium planted aquariums.
B+ LINE is designed for plants with lower light requirements and general ornamental fish aquariums.
3. Which line is best for high-light planted aquariums?
We recommend S LINE.
It is designed for demanding plants, dense layouts, deeper aquariums, and medium to large planted tanks. S LINE provides the highest light output and PPFD in the TWINSTAR Aquarium Lighting lineup.
4. Which line is best for small and medium planted aquariums?
We recommend E LINE.
It is particularly well suited to 20–45 cm planted aquariums and also provides ample light for a wide range of plants in medium-sized tanks. It is an excellent choice for customers who value strong performance at a practical price.
5. Which line is best for tropical fish and plants with lower light requirements?
We recommend B+ LINE.
It provides sufficient performance for easy-to-grow plants, plants with relatively low light requirements, tropical fish, and general ornamental fish aquariums. It can be used with or without CO₂ injection and uses the same TWINSTAR Six-Color Full Spectrum as S and E LINE.
When using S LINE or E LINE without CO₂ injection, we recommend reducing the light output according to the plant species and planting density.
6. How do I choose the correct light length?
We recommend choosing according to the aquarium width and the Recommended Tank Width listed for each model.
Select a model that provides adequate coverage across the aquarium. Recommended tank widths are listed in the product specifications.
7. Can I use two or more lights on one aquarium?
Yes.
Two or more lights can be used for larger or deeper aquariums, high-light planted setups, or when wider and more uniform coverage is required.
Using multiple lights can help provide more even illumination across wider aquariums.
Waterproof Lighting
1. What is the difference between G, G+, and G+ Pro?
All three lines use the same TWINSTAR Six-Color Full Spectrum, but they differ in light output, control functions, and mounting options.
G+ Pro provides the highest light output in the Waterproof lineup and offers the widest range of installation options.
G+ provides high light output and broad installation compatibility at a more practical price point.
G LINE is a practical full-spectrum lighting solution with flexible installation options, including T5 mounting, at an accessible price.
2. Which Waterproof model is compatible with my aquarium?
Compatibility depends on the aquarium brand, model, and cover structure.
TWINSTAR Waterproof Lighting offers multiple installation options for a wide range of closed aquarium systems, including compatible Juwel, Eheim, and Oase models.
We recommend checking the Compatibility / Installation information and your aquarium model before purchase.
3. Can G LINE be installed on aquariums without T5 fixtures?
Yes.
G LINE can be installed using existing T5 mounting systems, but alternative mounting options, including wire mounting, are also available for aquariums without T5 fixtures.
4. Can two Waterproof lights be used together?
Yes.
Two G or G+ units can be used when higher light output or wider coverage is required. For larger closed aquariums, using two units can provide stronger and more even illumination.
2. Spectrum
Spectrum Basics
1. What is TWINSTAR Six-Color Full Spectrum?
TWINSTAR uses a combination of Red, Green, and Blue LEDs together with three types of Plant Growth LEDs.
This creates broader spectral coverage than conventional RGB lighting and is designed to support both healthy plant growth and natural color reproduction.
2. Why does spectrum matter?
Light output tells you how much light reaches the aquarium. Spectrum tells you what wavelengths that light contains.
Aquatic plants respond differently to different wavelengths, so two lights with similar brightness or PPFD can produce different results depending on their spectral balance.
3. What is the difference between PPFD and spectrum?
PPFD measures the amount of light plants receive within the photosynthetically active range, generally 400–700 nm.
Spectrum shows how that light is distributed across different wavelengths.
For planted aquariums, both light quantity and spectral balance are important.
Default Spectrum & Color
1. Can I use the default spectrum without adjustment?
Yes.
TWINSTAR’s default spectrum is designed for healthy plant growth and natural color reproduction. Each light is color-balanced during production so that good results can be achieved without additional color adjustment.
2. Do I need to adjust the color channels manually?
No.
The default spectrum is recommended for most users. On models that support LightControl Pro, Red, Green, Blue, and Plant Growth channels can also be adjusted individually according to personal preference or aquarium conditions.
3. Is TWINSTAR Spectrum suitable for fish as well as plants?
Yes.
The Six-Color Full Spectrum is designed not only to support plant growth, but also to reproduce the natural colors of tropical and ornamental fish clearly and vividly.
Plant Growth
1. Is TWINSTAR lighting suitable for red plants?
Yes.
TWINSTAR’s Six-Color Full Spectrum provides broad spectral coverage, including the red wavelength region. With sufficient light, CO₂, and nutrients, it supports healthy growth and strong color development in red aquatic plants.
2. Is high light output alone enough for healthy plant growth?
No.
Healthy plant growth depends on more than light output or PPFD. Spectrum balance, CO₂, nutrients, lighting duration, and overall aquarium conditions are also important.
Excessive light can contribute to algae or growth imbalance if other conditions are not properly matched.
3. Can I use TWINSTAR lighting without CO₂ injection?
Yes.
TWINSTAR lighting can be used with or without CO₂ injection.
In aquariums without CO₂ injection, we recommend reducing light output and adjusting the lighting duration according to the plant species and planting density.
Light Output & Settings
1. How many hours per day should I use the light?
For most planted aquariums, around 8 hours per day is a good starting point.
Lighting duration can be adjusted according to plant species, CO₂ supply, nutrient levels, and the maturity of the aquarium.
2. When should I use Boost Mode?
Boost Mode can be used when additional light output is needed for a limited period.
Rather than operating at maximum output continuously, we recommend using Boost Mode only when necessary and adjusting it according to CO₂ and nutrient conditions.
3. What should I do if the light is too strong?
Reduce the light output gradually.
Monitor plant growth, algae development, CO₂ supply, and aquarium depth, then adjust the brightness to suit the conditions of your aquarium.
3. Bluetooth & LightControl
Connection & Pairing
1. The light does not appear in the app. What should I do?
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone. Turn the light off and back on, then restart the app.
Keep the smartphone close to the light and check whether the light is already connected to another device.
2. A light that was previously connected no longer appears in the app.
Fully close and reopen the app, then restart the light.
If the problem continues, turn Bluetooth off and back on on your smartphone and try connecting again.
3. Only some of my lights are connecting.
Check that each light is powered on and try connecting to them individually.
If several lights are installed close together, checking them one at a time can make it easier to identify the connection issue.
Timer & Schedule
1. The light does not turn on or off at the scheduled time.
Check the Timer settings in the app and make sure the current time on your smartphone is correct.
Also confirm that the Timer is enabled and review any Sunrise or Sunset settings that may affect the transition time.
2. The light seems to turn on or off earlier or later than the set time.
When Sunrise or Sunset is enabled, brightness changes gradually around the scheduled start or end time.
Because of this transition, the light may appear to turn on or off earlier or later than expected.
3. Will my Timer settings be lost if the power is disconnected?
Normally, saved Timer settings remain stored in the light.
After power is restored, the light should continue operating according to the saved schedule.
4. The Timer does not seem to be working correctly. What should I do?
Save the Timer settings again and monitor the light through a complete lighting cycle.
If the same issue continues, check the LightControl app version and your light model, then contact TWINSTAR Support with the relevant settings and details.
Color & Brightness
1. My brightness or color settings change by themselves.
Timer, Sunrise/Sunset, preset, or Group settings may override the current manual settings.
Check which schedules and color settings are currently active.
2. My color settings do not seem to be saved.
After adjusting the color channels, make sure the settings have been saved correctly.
If another preset or Timer setting becomes active, the displayed color may change according to that setting.
3. The light feels dim even when brightness is set to 100%.
On models that support Boost Mode, normal maximum output and Boost output are different.
Check whether Boost Mode is currently enabled.
Group Control
1. Some lights in a Group do not operate together.
Make sure all lights in the Group are connected correctly.
Also confirm that the grouped lights use the same LightControl version.
2. The lights in my Group do not have the same brightness or color.
Group Control can synchronize functions such as ON/OFF and Timer operation, while some brightness and color settings may remain individually configured.
Check the settings of each light if needed.
One-Touch & Manual Operation
1. I pressed the One-Touch button and the light stays on.
One-Touch Viewing temporarily turns the light on for a set period.
After the viewing period ends, the light should return to its normal schedule.
2. Can I use the light without the app?
Basic lighting operation is possible, but advanced functions such as Timer, Color Control, and Group Control require the LightControl app for setup and adjustment.
App & Software
1. The light behaves differently after an app update.
App updates may include improvements or changes to lighting and Timer functions.
If you notice unexpected behavior after an update, fully close the app, restart the light, and check the settings again.

5. Troubleshooting
Lighting
1. The light does not turn on. What should I do?
First, check that the power adapter and cable are connected correctly.
If you are using a power strip or extension cable, we recommend testing the light by connecting it directly to another wall outlet.
Power adapters also have a limited service life. If the adapter is suspected to be faulty, it can be replaced with a compatible adapter that has the same output voltage, polarity, and connector specifications. The current rating should be equal to or higher than that of the original adapter.
Compatible standard adapters can be purchased from Amazon or other electronics retailers.
If the light still does not turn on after replacing the adapter, please contact TWINSTAR Support with the product model and a description of the issue.
2. The light is flickering or operating irregularly.
First, check the power connection and cable.
If persistent flickering or irregular operation occurs after long-term use, the power adapter may have reached the end of its service life and may need to be replaced.
Try using a compatible adapter with the same output voltage, polarity, and connector specifications.
If the problem continues after replacing the adapter, the light itself may need to be inspected. Please contact TWINSTAR Support.
3. Some LEDs do not light up or the color looks different.
First, check the Color settings and Preset settings in LightControl.
If the settings are correct but specific LEDs remain off or appear noticeably different in color, please contact TWINSTAR Support and include photos or video showing the issue.
Light Output & Aquarium Conditions
1. Algae increased after I changed to a new light. What should I do?
If the new light has a higher output than your previous light, the existing balance of CO₂, nutrients, and lighting duration may no longer match the new light level.
We recommend starting with lower brightness and a shorter lighting period, then increasing them gradually while monitoring plant growth and algae development.
If the aquarium is still maturing or CO₂ supply is limited, we do not recommend starting with very high light output.
When to Contact Support
1. When should I contact TWINSTAR Support?
We recommend stopping use or contacting TWINSTAR Support for further inspection in the following cases:
